Universal Studios in the Winter

We ate the crap we bought the other day at the grocery store for breakfast today, as we wanted to arrive at Universal Studios as soon as they opened this morning. Although Universal Studios is only a few miles from our hotel, the little lady on our GPS showed us her sense of humor by taking us a different route via the Interstate. 45 minutes later, we arrived at Universal. I don’t think our GPS lady has ever been to Orlando!

We arrived at Universal in shorts and t-shirts shortly after they opened. We realized our wardrobe mistake as soon as we got out of the car. The temperature was in the 50’s, but the wind was blowing at 25-30 miles an hour. We were frozen by the time we purchased our tickets. Needless to say, our first stop was to purchase Universal Studios sweatshirts for the kids. ($100). The stores had all of their sweatshirts packed away for the season and had to get them from the back room. Unfortunately, there weren’t any left to fit Pres and me. Admission to the park was a mere $500 for 3 adults and 2 children. After our initial outlay of $600, I knew we would be staying all day no matter how cold we were. We are from Minnesota, after all!

Here we are before Pres and I were able to find sweatshirts to fit us. Notice the goose bumps on our legs.

This seemed to be Pres’ favorite place. When I mentioned this to Annie, she said, “That’s ok Grandpa. I have a bladder problem, too.”

Hudson’s favorite thing in Universal Studios was the Dippin’ Dots, even though her was freezing.

We finally found some sweatshirts to fit us ($100).

The Blues Brothers (not the real ones) put on a great show.

The kids discovered that Universal Studios also has pressed penny machines. They each collected 60 pennies. We had to get another book to keep them in.

We stayed at Universal Studios until they almost had to throw us out. We were all exhausted. We have tickets that allow us to come back all week. Oh, great!

Back at the hotel, Pres cleaned Annie’s feet. She wore sandals and was too tired for a shower. Pres is always cleaning something.
